A free, AI-powered expense tracker built with the latest Android stack
Project overview
Expensio is a free, AI-powered personal expense tracker — my own idea, architecture, design and development. It helps you log, categorize and understand your spending, with smart insights powered by Google’s Gemini AI. Android is live on the Play Store; the iOS version is in progress.
Problem statement
Most expense trackers are cluttered, paywalled, or require tedious manual entry — making it hard to stay consistent and actually understand where your money goes.
Solution
A clean, fully free expense tracker built with the latest Android stack and Gemini AI, turning manual bookkeeping into effortless, intelligent spending insights.
Architecture used
Modern Android — 100% Jetpack Compose UI on an MVVM + Clean Architecture foundation, Kotlin Coroutines/Flow, Hilt for dependency injection, Room for persistence, and Gemini AI integration. A native iOS version is in development.
My contributions
Sole creator — my idea, product design, architecture and end-to-end development. I designed the UX, built the full Android app with the latest Jetpack technologies and integrated Gemini AI; the iOS app is currently in progress.
Challenges & solutions
Designing an intuitive, fully free experience while integrating Gemini AI to deliver genuinely useful spending insights — and architecting a clean foundation ready for the upcoming iOS app.
